Desmond Doss was an extremely religious combat medic in World War 2 who achieved many awards. There were also books and movies made around his achievements. During his life Doss received two bronze medals and the army medal of honour .


Desmond doss was born on the seventh of February 1919 in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA, To William Thomas Doss and Bertha E. Oliver. During his life he married twice. His first wife was Dorothy Doss(1942-1991). Two years after the death of Dorothy he remarried to Frances M. Doss(1993-2006). On the fifteenth of September 1946 his only child, Desmond Doss jr, was born. After a long 87 years of life Desmond passed away on the twenty third of march 20016 in Piedmont, Alabama, USA, due to natural causes.


Desmond Doss was a highly religious man. He always carried a bible on his person and was a seventh day adventist. When it came to religion oss was strict. He had enforced the ten commandments upon himself, especially one stating that ‘Thou Shalt Not Kill’. Due to this he believed it wrong to carry any kind of weapon, nevertheless a firearm.


On the first of April 192 Doss joined the US military and approximately three years later in 1945, the battle of Okinawa began. Desmond was stationed in hacksaw Ridge(a.k.a Okinawa), where was assigned the role of combat medic. Although he helped upfront he refused to use firearms. Once during the time doss was on the field, he had saved 75 lives in the short space of 12 hours.


Doss achieved many noble things. He saved the lives of many hardworking soldiers. Desmond Doss has been a huge role model for many Americans.
